Still waiting...

Well, as a result of the chaos involving foreclosures and such, a great number of new crap is involved in getting a loan... So closing has been postponed until early November. Meanwhile, nothing new has broken at the house!!! Life is good!

Here is one of today's findings... thanks to Nick for providing the entertainment :)

All Dressed Up For Halloween!

I found the Halloween decorations! You can really see the color of the walls in these photos too!

Still gotta paint the hallway and deal with the wallpaper in the dining room, but that can wait!!

I also got some pictures framed and hung in my room!

Bring your "kid" to work day!

So I brought Luke to work with me last night. He slept peacefully until about 5 minutes ago when Lars showed up with April! Let the growling begin...

Apparently if I turn the flash on the camera will take a less blurry picture. However, it makes my dog look psycho!

I had to zoom in on that picture... Man I wouldn't mess with that dog!

The "Joy" of Home Ownership...

So, I went in knowing that my new house needed of lots of paint, new carpets, and the kitchen redone. Nothing major before move in though, and I actually had fun choosing the colors for the walls and decorating the house. I'll post updated pictures soon.

Meanwhile... About a week after move in, the tiles started falling off the wall behind the stove! I had planned to redo the kitchen - but I wanted to wait a year or so, take some time, do some research and figure out what exactly I wanted. So.... I put the green tiles back up!

I had already started putting the tiles back up when this picture was taken... Everything under the microwave was gone!
Here is nearly finished product. I have to wait 24 hours to grout the tiles... then just hope they stick for a year or so!

And the other new development... This evening, just before starting the tile project, I decided to go see what my dog was throwing a fit about in the back yard. I assumed it was the squirrel that has tormented him from day one... it really is a stubborn squirrel!! Turns out there was an extraterrestrial in our tree! Ok, not really, but it was largest wasps nest I've ever seen. Gives me the heebie jeebie's just to think of it, and I still have to deal with it.

Luke still thinks it's E.T.!!

Oh yeah - I also found part of a sprinkler head a little chewed up by the lawn mower... OOPS!

My First House!

I'm buying a house!!! The bank is wrapping up the paperwork now (scary stuff considering the recent events in our country), but we moved in last month and the fun began right away!!!

My parents purchased the house while raising their grand daughters. They are now down to only one child and don't need such a large place. I happen to love the house and decided it's time make the investment.

The house is a 2400 square foot rancher style, built in 1977. The original owners had the house for 27 years, until my parents purchased it in 2004. It's in pretty good shape - but does need a little TLC! The original owners had an obsession with the color green... well light green, seafoam green, mint green, etc. The shutters were green, the doors were green, the carpets were seafoam green, and the master bedroom and guest bath were painted mint green. It wasn't pretty.

My dad recently painted the shutters and doors, put up new siding, and a 6 foot privacy fence! I get to work on updating the inside! In the rush to get us all moved (me, my roommate, my teenage sister, three dogs, three cats, and 30someodd fish), I failed to take any "before pictures." So the pictures here are my "in progress" pictures... Not one room is completely finished yet. Needless to say, I'll be occupied with projects for years!

From the outside...

Living room & Dining room ... I haven't done much with these rooms yet. The livingroom has been painted a lovely beige and the curtains got a little mending. The dining room & kitchen are going to be HUGE projects - I'm working on the not-so-huge projects first! (Note the green carpet!!)

The Kitchen... I'm totally looking forward to redoing this kitchen!!! Too white and mint green!

Main bathroom. This one I do have a before picture of... It's not very fancy, but it shows the "lovely" green walls and floral border. Mind you EVERYTHING was painted mint green, including the cupboards!!! (Yes, I repainted it green, but a very different green!)

The Master bedroom and bath... This is actually my roommates room... yes, she too choose to repaint her wall green!

The other bedrooms... The blue one is my teenage sisters... The green and beige one is mine (yet another shade of green!!)

The basement... This is our combo activity area. If you're bored we have a piano, organ, pool table, dart board, and a t.v. designed specifically for watching crapavision! The carpet was torn out and I'm hesitant to replace it because one of the cats is a "bad kitty" (official diagonsis by the vet)!

Last but not least... The spare bedroom. While these pictures look bland, this is my favorite room! One of my neices decided to GLUE magazine pages to the walls. I spent days sanding the glue off the walls, patching the holes, spackling, primering, and painting the walls! The carpet had to go from this room too, but I think that's all I have left to do here!
